Google has added a set of small-business tools to the Gemini app. Announced on 20 October 2026 and rolling out worldwide over the following days, they let owners save their brand style so Gemini produces on-brand marketing images, turn spreadsheets and receipts into charts and simple financial models, and connect Gemini to tools such as Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Canva, Shopify, Wix and Xero. (Google)

The tools sit on a new business landing page inside the Gemini app rather than in a separate product. Google says they are rolling out "for all Gemini app users", so if you already use Gemini on your phone or computer, you will not need to sign up for anything new to try them. Google also says tens of millions of small business owners already use Gemini for jobs like brainstorming products and handling customer feedback. (afaqs)

For a small business, that matters. Brand-consistent marketing and basic financial analysis used to mean a designer, an accountant's time or a stack of separate subscriptions. Some of that is now inside a free app many owners already have on their phone. This article explains what is actually included, where it helps, where the limits are, and how to start without creating new problems.

What the new Gemini business tools do

There are four parts to the announcement. Google has given little detail on the fourth, customer insights, beyond naming it.

Feature What it does What you give it
Business landing page A single starting point inside the Gemini app for brand, finance and customer tasks Nothing extra: it appears in the Gemini app as the rollout reaches you
Saved brand style Remembers your look so marketing images come out on brand every time, without re-uploading your guidelines. Uses Google's newest image model, which Google calls Nano Banana 2.1 Your website address, a brand kit, your fonts or your colour palette
Finance graphics Turns spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into charts and simple interactive models The files themselves, uploaded to Gemini
Connected apps Lets Gemini work with other tools you use. Google names Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, plus Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero Permission to connect each account

Some connections can take action, not just read. Google's help page for the Business Profile connection says Gemini can summarise your reviews, draft or delete review replies, change your opening hours, edit contact details and links, and create, schedule, publish or delete posts on your profile. (Google Business Profile Help)

Not every connection will be available to every business straight away. At launch the Business Profile connection needs a personal Google Account, not a work account, and is not available if you manage more than one verified profile. Independent reviewers of Google's help pages also report that some third-party connections are limited to certain countries, with Shopify and Dropbox listed as US only at launch. Why it matters for a small business

The significance is less about any single feature and more about where they now live. A lot of small businesses already have the Gemini app, and Google is putting these tools in front of all of them at once.

  • On-brand marketing without a designer for every post. The hardest part of DIY marketing is consistency. Each social post, flyer or offer graphic drifts a little further from the last, until the business looks different everywhere. Saving your brand style once and having every image follow it addresses exactly that problem.
  • Numbers you can actually read. Plenty of owners keep their figures in a spreadsheet they rarely open, or a shoebox of receipts. Turning those into a chart of monthly sales, spending by category or a simple "what if prices rose 5%" model makes them something you can act on, without waiting for your accountant's year-end meeting.
  • Less switching between tools. Being able to ask Gemini to check last week's reviews, draft a reply, update your Christmas opening hours and create a matching post, in one conversation, saves the small but constant time cost of logging in to five different places.
  • It is free to try. Google has not announced a separate price for the business tools, and says they are rolling out to all Gemini app users. That lowers the barrier to experimenting considerably.

For businesses that have held back from AI because it seemed technical or expensive, this is probably the most accessible starting point yet. It is a good reason to take another look.

The catches

None of this is a reason to stay away. It is a reason to go in with your eyes open.

  • Your data goes into Gemini. Uploading receipts, sales figures and supplier spreadsheets means sharing business information with an AI service on a personal Google Account. Check what your Gemini activity settings keep, think twice before uploading anything that contains customer or staff personal details, and make sure your own AI policy covers it. If you do not have one, our article on why your small business needs a one-page AI policy is a good place to start.
  • Charts are not accounts. Google describes the finance feature as turning records into graphics and models, not as bookkeeping. AI tools can misread a receipt or a column heading and present the result with complete confidence. Use the charts to spot patterns and ask better questions, and keep your bookkeeping software and your accountant for the figures that matter.
  • Connected apps can act, not just look. If Gemini can change your opening hours or publish a post on your Business Profile, a misunderstood instruction is now a public mistake. Read what it proposes before you confirm it, particularly for anything customers will see.
  • On brand is not the same as good. A saved style keeps the colours and fonts consistent. It does not decide whether the offer is right, whether the image is honest about what you sell, or whether the message will land with your customers. That judgement is still yours.
  • Rollout is gradual and uneven. Google says the tools are "beginning to roll out". Some features and connections may not appear in your account for a while, and some are limited by country, language or account type.

The pattern here is the same as with every AI tool: it is excellent at the first draft and the heavy lifting, and it still needs someone who knows the business to check the result.

How to get started sensibly

  1. Check what you have. Open the Gemini app and look for the new business landing page and the Connected Apps settings. If they are not there yet, the rollout has not reached you.
  2. Get your brand assets in order first. Gemini can only follow the style you give it. Gather your logo files, your exact brand colours and your fonts in one place. If your website is out of date, fix that before pointing Gemini at it, or it will faithfully copy the old look.
  3. Start with something low-risk. Ask for three versions of a social post image for an upcoming offer, compare them with your usual style, and see how close it gets.
  4. Try the finance charts on a copy. Upload a copy of last quarter's sales spreadsheet, not your live accounts file, with any customer names removed. Check the chart totals against figures you already know.
  5. Connect one app at a time. Start with the one you use most. For Google Business Profile, ask Gemini to summarise recent reviews before you let it change anything.
  6. Write down your rules. Decide who in the business may use it, what data may go in, and which actions always need a human to check them. Five lines is enough to start.
